What the innovAGEING initiative means for Australian aged care

The aged care services industry has grown strongly over the past decade and is expected to continue expanding, mainly due to Australia’s ageing population.
Intergenerational Report predicts that the proportion of Australians aged 65 and over will climb to 25 per cent over the next 40 years.
Currently, aged care is one of Australia’s largest service industries, caring for over one million people via more than 2,000 providers, according to the Aged Care Financing Authority.
To this end, the Turnbull government has announced a new partnership to ensure the sector embraces new technology and innovation as it grows. Let’s take a closer look at innovAGEING.
What is the innovAGEING program?
innovAGEING is Australia’s first innovation network for aged care services. Essentially, it’s a national commitment to finding appropriate, innovative solutions for the aged care sector.
The Australian Government has just announced they will contribute $400,000 to innovAGEING over the next two years.
It’s been a big day for @LASANational and the Government (@KenWyattMP) with the official launch of @innovAGEING in the ACT and the announcement of $400,000 funding for the initiative.
